United v Watford Saturday 16th August 1997 - Division 2 New signing this week from London giants Tottenham Hotspur. First came to Britain in a £1,000,000 mover to Liverpool from Belgium side Standard Liege in June 1990. ??? went on to make over 50 appearances for the Anfield side before a £250,000 move took him to Tottenham in January 1994. Always an enthusiastic competitor, ??? was mainly deployed by Gerry Francis to play behind Teddy Sheringham and Chris Armstrong. Loves to pick the ball up and run at opponents, he will always get into good goalscoring positions, but his first team opportunities limited with the arrival of Andy Sinton to White Hart Lane in February last year. He moved to Stoke City for £250,000 in 1996. ??? is a natural leader and was last season's joint leading scorer with 13 League and 2 FA Cup goals. United v Shrewsbury Town Saturday 28th September 2002 - Division 3 Signed on a free transfer from Oxford United in July 2000, ??? enjoyed a successful first season with Shrewsbury and topped the scoring charts with 15 goals. He also took over the captaincy midway through the season which seemed to being the best out of the experienced striker. ??? has enjoyed a nomadic career and Shrewsbury is the thirteenth club he has played for. Perhaps best remembered as a Brian Clough signing for Nottingham Forest, Nigel scored the winning goal for Forest in the 1990 League Cup final, later joining Sheffield Wednesday for £800,000. Once capped by England at Under-21 level, Lancastrian ??? has also had spells with Preston, Bolton, Grimsby, Notts County, Watford, Coventry, Rotherham, Bury and Ayr. Nigel Jemson |

| 5 | Sunderland
v Wolverhampton Wanderers Saturday 18th September 1993 - Division 1 The most prolific goalscorer in the English game, and Wolves record league goalscorer. And at 28 the fearsome striker is determined to reach out for new challenges. By his own standards last season's return of 16 league goals was below par. His sights are higher this time around, with 25 his target. And ??? also aims to earn a recall to the England side. His last international appearance came against Poland in a European Qualifier three years ago. Steve Bull |
