Leeds qualified for the first season of the Champions League  following their League Championship success in 1991/92.   

   
1st Round 
1st Leg Wed Sep 16 VfB Stuttgart (Germany) Away Lost 0-3
2nd Leg Wed Sep 30 VfB Stuttgart Home Won 4-1

Based on the first two matches Leeds were eliminated from Europe on the away goals rule. However at one stage of the match at Elland Road Stuttgart had fielded four foreign players rather than the maximum permitted three. The result was declared void and Leeds were awarded the match 3-0 meaning that a play-off was needed, which was staged in Barcelona.

Leeds therefore progressed to the Second Round.

2nd Leg Wed Nov 4 Rangers Home Lost 1-2

Lost 2-4 on aggregate and so Leeds failed to qualify for the Group stages.
