* Swansea became the first Welsh club to compete in Europe but the draw was unkind to them, against Motor Jena of East Germany. At the time East Germans could not obtain visas to travel to Britain so Swansea had to stage their 'home' leg abroad or face expulsion from the competition. The match was played in Linz, Austria. |
Swansea became the Welsh representatives in the ECWC following a 3-1 victory over Bangor City in the 1960/61 Welsh Cup final played at Cardiff. |
