  Leading League goalscorer:
Jimmy Ross
(Preston North End)
24 goals

Bolton fans certainly saw their share of goals being scored. In three consecutive matches Bolton won 7-1, 7-0 and then lost 1-7. In other League matches they conceded another 7 and 6 goals twice but in the FA Cup they recorded 13-0 and 10-2 victories. Those were the days!

The first club to score double figures in a League match were reigning champions Preston who in their first match of the season beat Stoke 10-0 at Deepdale.

* As both Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers finished equal on 19 points apiece it was agreed that neither would need to face re-election, which would normally be required of the club finishing fourth from bottom.

R Without a vote being taken it was agreed to re-elect Burnley and Notts County, to elect Sunderland in place of Stoke, and reject the applications of Bootle, Darwen, Grimsby Town, Newton Heath and Sunderland Albion.
