Hudersfield Town became the first club to win a hat-trick of three consecutive Football League championship titles.

A seemingly small change in the offside rule brought a dramatic increase in goals scored. The number of opponents needed to keep a player onside was reduced from 3 to 2.  As a result the total number of goals scored in Division 1 increased from 1192 in 1924/25 to 1703, up by over 40%. There were some amazing individual results - Burnley lost 0-10 at Aston Villa on the opening day of the season and later were beaten 1-8 at Bury and 3-8 at Manchester City but also won 7-1 at Birmingham!

Manchester City may well have conceded 100 goals in suffering relegation but they recorded a unique FA Cup scoreline with an 11-4 victory over Crystal Palace.
