Leading goalscorer: Pongo Waring (Aston Villa) 49 goals With 128 League goals in the season Aston Villa equalled the League goalscoring record set by Bradford City in the Third Division (North) in 1928/29. That record stood until Peterborough broke it in 1960/61 but Villa's total still ranks as the highest number of League goals scored in the top flight in a season. Manchester United lost their first twelve matches of the season and eventually let in 115 League goals - the only time they have conceded a century of League goals in a season.
