Stanley Matthews
made his League debut for Stoke City against Bury at Gigg Lane on Saturday March 19th 1932. He made his last League appearance for the same club in 1965, just days after his 50th birthday.

On Saturday January 2nd 1932 a new record was set when 209 goals were scored in the 43 Football League matches played that day (the record was equalled in 1935/36).
