  Leading League goalscorer:
Jack Bowers
(Leicester City)
 33  goals

Jack Bowers joined Leicester from Derby in November 1936 and scored the division best 33 goals in just 27 League matches.

Leicester recorded their highest League score with a 10-0 First Division victory over Portsmouth at Filbert Street on October 20th 1928. Arthur Chandler equalled the Leicester individual record with six goals in that win which became known as the 'six swans match'. After Chandler had scored five goals five swans flew over Filbert Street. A sixth swan flew over shortly afterwards and the fans demanded a sixth goal from Chandler, which he duly scored.

The curious case of Chesterfield's Walter Pontin and the deflating ball -
the 'goal' that wasn't!
