Halifax Town recorded their highest home attendance with 36,885 present at The Shay on Saturday 14th February 1953 for an FA Cup 5th Round tie against Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs won 3-0. The receipts figure of 4898 was also a record at the time - it survived for 27 years until Manchester City visited - and lost - in an FA Cup 3rd Round tie in 1980.
