An early season injury crisis at West Ham saw the 17-year-old Robert Frederick Chelsea Moore make his League debut for the Hammers against Manchester United at Upton Park on Monday September 8th 1958. Bobby Moore played his part in the 3-2 victory and many would argue he became the greatest English player of all time. He was to make 544 League appearances for West Ham and win a then-record 108 caps for England and memorably in three seasons he captained sides in three Wembley victories, winning the FA Cup in 1964, European Cup Winners' Cup in 1965 and of course the World Cup in 1966. He moved to Fulham  in 1974 where he made another 124 League appearances and played in one more FA Cup final - ironically a defeat against West Ham. He later had a brief spell as manager of Southend  before tragically dying of cancer in 1993 aged just 51. A great player, sadly missed.
