Mighty Real Madrid visited Selhurst Park on Wednesday April 18th 1962 to mark the opening of Crystal Palace's new floodlights. Included in the Palace side as a guest player was Johnny 'Budgie' Byrne who the month before had moved to West Ham for a 65,000 total fee which was then a record between English clubs.
