Leading League goalscorer:
Marco Gabbiadini
 (Darlington)
 23  goals

On Saturday September 5th 1998 manager Barry Fry watched his Peterborough United team defeat one of his former clubs, Barnet, 9-1 at  Underhill. It was Peterborough's record League victory, the record away score in the Third Division and Guiliano Grazioli's five goals was also a club record. Just to show that result was no fluke Posh's next highest score (5-2) in the season was against Barnet in the home fixture.

After their ejection from the Goldstone Ground Brighton attract just 1073 fans to their first home competitive match at their new ground-share 'home' - Gillingham's Priestfield Stadium. They had a 1-1 League Cup draw with Leyton Orient.

With just seconds left of their final match of the season Carlisle needed a goal against Plymouth to save their place in the Football League. With the whistle about to be blown Carlisle goalkeeper Jimmy Glass went upfield for a last-ditch Carlisle corner - and scored the winning goal. So by scoring a goal in one of just 3 appearances he made for Carlisle goalkeeper Jimmy Glass became a club legend!
