      GM VAUXHALL CONFERENCE
1989/90
      P W D L F A Pts

Darlington proved that relegation to the Conference wasn't the end of the world. Their membership of the Conference lasted just 12 months with the Quakers taking the title on the last day of the season and so condemning Barnet to their third runners-up spot in four seasons. To prove that fans would rather watch a successful non-league side than an unsuccessful League one Darlington's average attendance for Conference matches was 3588 compared with the 2314 average in the Football League the previous season.
