Farnborough Town were the best of the bunch as far as Conference sides in the FA Cup were concerned. They knocked out Football League side Torquay United en route to a Third Round tie against West Ham. It took the Hammers two matches - both at Upton Park - and an 89th minute winner before they overcame their Hampshire opponents.

    Promoted Colchester were promoted to the Football League, replacing Aldershot who had resigned from the League during the season.
