At
the end of 1914/15 season - the last season before the Great War -
Stoke were elected into the Football League at the expense of
Glossop. When League football resumed in 1919/20 Stoke retained that
League place but a further election meeting was held as League
re-organisation meant that four new clubs were to be elected into
