Tottenham and Bradford of the Southern League (yes Bradford in the Southern League!) joined with fellow non-leaguers Burton United to challenge the three clubs seeking re-election to the Football League in the vote for League membership. Voting -
32 votes Grimsby Town Re-elected to the League
23 Chesterfield Town Re-elected to the League
20 Bradford Park Avenue Elected to the League
18 Lincoln City Not re-elected to the League
14 Tottenham Hotspur Not elected to the League
1 Burton United Not elected to the League
After the meeting in which the above vote was taken Stoke resigned from the League. A second meeting was arranged to select a club to replace them and although Stoke changed their mind about leaving the League the meeting was held with the Potteries club being included in the vote. Voting -
20 votes Lincoln City 2nd ballot
20 Tottenham Hotspur 2nd ballot
6 Stoke Not re-elected to the League.
In the second ballot Lincoln and Tottenham again tied 20-20 with the final vote, made by the Management Committee, being 5-3 in favour of Tottenham. Therefore Tottenham were elected to the League and Lincoln again failed to regain their place.
