In
winning the Scottish League Second Division title, Raith Rovers set a new
Scottish League goalscoring record. The Kirkcaldy club scored 142 goals in
their 34 League matches, beating the previous record set by Falkirk who
had scored 132 goals in winning the Division 2 title two seasons
previously. However, Raith's top score was in the Scottish Cup where they beat Edinburgh City 9-2 in a Second Round tie (all the season's results). Sadly their success of that season was not long-lived. The following season they finished bottom of the First Division and were back in the Second Division when League football resumed after the Second World War.
