BRADFORD CITY
Election to the Football League 1902/03

Bradford City were one of those fortunate few clubs who were elected to the Football League shortly after their formation. Manningham rugby club played at Valley Parade and in 1903, after a period of financial difficulties, they decided to convert to playing with the round ball, calling themselves Bradford City. The Football League clubs saw an opportunity to increase their foothold in a rugby league stronghold and almost immediately voted them into the competition. Bradford City, along with four other non-league sides and the three League clubs seeking re-election, were included in the vote. Voting at the League AGM -
