HULL CITY   1904/05   playing record
The present Hull City club were founded on 28th June 1904, too late to join a League. They arranged a fixture list of friendlies and at the end of the season applied to join the Football League. They were involved in two votes at the League AGM. The first was based on the fact that both Divisions of the League were to remain at 18 clubs each and in this vote Hull were unsuccessful. Voting -
25 votes Leeds City Elected to the League
21  Burslem Port Vale Re-elected to the League
20 Chelsea Elected to the League
18 Hull City Not elected to the League
10 Burton United Not re-elected to the League
10 Crewe Alexandra Not elected to the League
4 Doncaster Rovers Not re-elected to the League
3 Stockport County Not elected to the League
Clapton Orient Not elected to the League
It was then decided that each division would increase by two clubs. In the First Division this was achieved by reprieving the two relegated clubs. This left four vacancies in the Second Division with the vote being between the two clubs who had previously not been re-elected to the League plus three of the non-league sides, including Hull, who had originally failed in their bid for election. Voting -
36 votes Burton United Now re-elected to the League
36 Hull City Elected to the League
26 Clapton Orient Elected to the League
26 Stockport County Elected to the League
20 Doncaster Rovers Again not re-elected to the League

'Well, if you really have not heard the good news, I must tell you. Loughborough beat that powerful combination, Woolwich Arsenal, by eight goals - whew! - to none. But that was not all; they had two goals disallowed, one as good a goal as ever was scored, but then we must not be too covetous, eight being pretty conclusive in all conscience'.
