Plenty of goals over the Christmas period in the two matches between Manchester City and Tranmere Rovers. City scored 14 goals in the two matches - and conceded 5 - with Jack Milsom scoring seven of them.

What a difference a couple of days can make in football. On January 21st 1939 Fulham visited Stamford Bridge for a local derby FA Cup 3rd Round tie against Chelsea - the attendance being 69,987. Two days later they were back at their Craven Cottage home for a Division 2 game against Swansea - with the crowd at that match being 3,155.
