Millwall set a new Football League record by scoring 127 Leaguer goals during the season. The record lasted just one season.

The Boxing Day local derby between Northampton Town and Luton Town at the County Ground looked to be in the bag for the visitors with Syd Reid scoring 4 times to help Luton to a 5-1 half-time lead.  But it was different at the final whistle - Northampton won
6-5. The return match at Luton the following day was eagerly awaited  but a snowstorm saw drifting snow up to 10ft deep hit the area and Northampton players were forced to push the team bus out of one the snowdrifts on the way to Luton. But to no avail, the match was postponed.
