      DIVISION 4    1989/90

Leading League goalscorer:
Brett Angell
 (Stockport County)
 23  goals

Maidstone United made their League debut on Saturday August 19th 1989 when they lost 0-1 at Peterborough United. The Kent club only managed three League seasons before financial problems saw them lose their place in the Football League.

Whoops! Gillingham had been Gillingham since 1913 when they changed their name from New Brompton. United has never been part of their name - well, not until they played at Southend in March 1990 when the Southend programme editor re-christened their visitors!
