      LEAGUE 2    2004/05

Leading League goalscorer:
Phil Jevons
 (Yeovil Town)
 27  goals

With debts approaching £1 million and assured of relegation to the Conference with its reduced income, Cambridge United went into administration just before the end of the season to ensure that 10 points would be deducted from their Football League points total rather than affect their 2005/06 Conference points.

On April 1st 2005 Bristol Rovers announced that their new strip would be pink. The fans missed the joke and such was the interest that a pink strip was actually produced as a third-choice shirt.
