A tragedy at Bootham Crescent where
David Longhurst
collapsed and died while playing for York against Lincoln on September 8th 1990, heart failure being the reason -  abandoned matches

An unusual season for Wrexham. They finished bottom of the League and only escaped relegation as the size of the Football League was increased. The 625 'crowd' who watched them play at Scarborough on a rainy Friday night in December was the lowest ever for a Fourth Division match......but the Welsh Cup holders played Manchester United twice in the European Cup Winners Cup!

York City's Nigel Pepper certainly saw red in matches against Darlington in 1990/91. He was sent off three times in matches against Darlington - in each of the two League matches and an FA Cup tie between the two clubs.
