DIVISION 3 1994/95 | |||||||||||||||
Leading
League goalscorer: Phil Stant (Bury 13 goals, Cardiff City 13 goals) 26 goals
Manchester United loaned David Beckham to Preston where he played his first five League matches.
In February 1995 the then owner of JJB Sports Dave Whelan bought his local club, Wigan Athletic. Few believed the former Blackburn Rovers player (he broke a leg playing for them against Wolves in the 1960 FA Cup Final) when he said he would take the Latics to the Premier Division. Ten years later they were indeed in the Premier Division!
Northampton Town were the last League club to share a ground
with a cricket club. That changed in October 1994 when they played their
last match at the County Ground and 4 days later their first match at their
new Sixfields home. |

* Bottom side Exeter City were saved from relegation to the Vauxhall Conference as it was deemed that the ground of Conference champions Macclesfield Town was not up to Football League standards (1994/95 Conference table). |
