 38  goals

Nottingham Forest beat Leicester Fosse 12-0 and the subsequent League inquiry discovers an embarrassing fact.

Probably the most memorable  of local derby scorelines was recorded on Saturday 5th December 1908 -
Newcastle United 1
 Sunderland 9.
Amazingly the scoreline was only 1-1 at half-time and more amazingly still Newcastle  went on to claim the League championship, winning 10 of the 11 League games that followed the Sunderland defeat.

The Charity Shield was first competed for during the season when 1907/08 League champions Manchester United beat 1907/08 Southern League champions Queens Park Rangers (match details).
