Ted Drake of Arsenal set the record for most goals scored in a match in the top flight when scoring all 7 of Arsenal's goals in their 7-1 First Division victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday 14th December 1935. His seven goals came from just eight shots - the other hit the woodwork!

Aston Villa also conceded 7 League goals at home to Middlesbrough and WBA - their 2-7 home defeat against Middlesbrough coming just 5 days after Villa had won 2-1 at Ayresome Park.

On Saturday 1st February 1936 the record set in 1931/32 of 209 Football League goals scored in one day was equalled.
