QPR won back the Premier League place they lost in 1996, but it was almost not the case. Going into the last match of the season they had won the title but were fearful of a points deduction that might have robbed them of promotion. Charged with breaching third-party ownership rules in connection with the transfer of Argentine midfielder, Alejandro Faurlin, they were found guilty of two of the seven FA charges. But they were relieved to receive a fine - of £875,000 - and the presentation of the Championship trophy went ahead although Leeds spoiled the party with a 2-1 victory at Loftus Road.

A see-saw match at Elland Road on Tuesday September 28th 2010. Visitors Preston took the lead after 5 minutes but were 4-1 down to Leeds at the half-time whistle. But at full-time Preston had fought back to record a 6-4 victory.

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric sacked another manager when he fired Paulo Sousa after being in charge for just 9 League matches during which time the Foxes only won once. Sven was appointed as the new manager.

Crystal Palace had to wait to their last away match of the season - at Hull on April 27th - before they avoided defeat in an away match played on a Saturday!
