Accrington Stanley resigned before the end of the 1961/62 season and their playing record was declared void. The club went bankrupt after leaving the League but later reformed, regaining their Football League place by winning the Nationwide Conference in 2005/06  (2005/06 Conference table and play-off details).

* The 2019/20 season ended early because of the coronavirus pandemic with the last League 1 matches being played on Tuesday March 10th. A points per game (PPG) system was then used to decide final League placings - Accrington finished 17th using both the PPG system and the traditional points system.
