*In November 1967 Peterborough United were found guilty of financial irregularities and received one of the most severe punishments suffered by a League club -  demotion.

**The 2019/20 season ended early because of the coronavirus pandemic with the last League 1 matches being played on Tuesday March 10th. At that time Peterborough were 6th in the table using the traditional points system but when the League 1 season was abandoned  it was decided that an average points per game (PPG) system would be used to decide the final placings Posh dropped to 7th.  And a play-off place was lost!
